Glad to meet somebody else who isn't a freak, sunwise! Just joking. I have always been under the impression that sugar, too much sugar, causes people to become too sensitive to the sun's rays. Look what happens when you put plain sugar in a pot on the stove - it caramelizes. And with a lot of sugar in your blood, which feeds your skin...

When I was much younger and had a hell of a sugar habit, I got red from the sun, like everyone else. Not that I consume a lot of vegetable oil, either, I sure don't. I do think it's my low-sugar diet.

Neither do I Anna May. I've met red haired, fair skinned people who completely stopped burning in the sun when they switched to a more traditional diet and stopped eating vegetable oil. It must have been such a boon for the pharmaceutical industry when the ozone layer story broke. Rubbing their hands with glee they began to blame the incredible rise in skin cancer on the sun. I have a hunch it's due to vegetable oils and margarine taking the place of cholesterol in the diet, creating havoc with melanin and vitamin D production. What do you think.

The 50 Tiny Habits article says to wear sunscreen. I never do, and don't burn, in spite of living in a part of N. America that has nice hot sunny summers. I have fair skin and hair.

P.S. Just scrolled back up looking to read other articles and noticed you also put up my article about 'Stress From Electromagnetic Fields: Natural Solutions. Joanne, you've got to be a very cool person - living in a yurt! Wow! Now that we turned off the circuit to the bedroom, I never put it on except to plug in the vacuum to clean the room! Feel somehow like I am detoxifying from electromagnetic stress now that I don't sleep with that static...

I will be very interested to hear about your experience living in your new yurt(s).

Hi Joanne,

Thanks so much for including my post about dandelions in this great selection of nourishing articles. Your idea about lacto-fermenting the dandelion buds is an interesting one that I will consider trying. I would be more than happy if you have a recipe for that, to put it on my blog as a comment or guest article!

Wishing you and my fellow nourishing bloggers the Best of Health!
- Ellen
