Welcome to the 9th edition of the Carnival of Nourishment.
Green Living
Karen Dowell presents How to deal with your food waste and make the most amazing compost! posted at Wiggly Wigglers. Thanks Karen. The Australian Government’s Greenhouse site says for each kg of food scraps we compost, we save 1kg of Greenhouse Gas emission.
Natural Health
Lucynda Riley presents Onions are Medicinal posted at Flower, Field, and Forest. A great Recipe for Onion and Honey Cough Syrup in this post.
Nutrition
Amanda Rose presents Omega 3 Fatty Acids and Brain Health: The Long Game posted at Rebuild from Depression Blog
Abdulrasool Sumar presents Good Nutrition Cancer Risk - Importance of Nutrition in Preventing Cancer posted at Mesothelioma Cancer, saying, “In 370 B.C., the father of Modern Medicine, Dr. Hippocrates quoted, “Let food be your medicine, and let medicine be your food.” And he said the best types of foods that protect your body from cancer risk are fruits, vegetables, beans and whole grains. Recent research by scientists has proven that eating plenty of fruits and vegetables through the course of one’s life greatly enhances one’s ability to avoid developing cancer and many other diseases.” Abdulrasool doesn’t mention, however, the importance of Organic. Pesticides applied to already nutrient poor vegetables are of little help. Also Abdulrasool, your mention of soy beans needs to be qualified. Unprepared soy has been shown to be an agent of cancer. Traditional soy foods like miso, soy sauce, natto and tempeh are the only soy foods any human should consume.
Wenchypoo presents Food Absurdity of the Millenium posted at Wisdom From Wenchypoo’s Mental Wastebasket, saying, “Category: food to avoid! I found this buried in my health food store’s online catalog, and it’s the perfect product for those who cannot boil water without burning it!” Bizarre American infantilizing food products.
Parenting
Keyboard Culture Expert Community presents Do Your Children Have Negative Self-talk? posted at Paula Fellingham - Stay at Home Moms. Thanks Paula. A great and simple post - no guilt. Thank the Goddess.
Tiffany Washko presents BPA – The Danger Lurking in Baby Bottles, Formula Cans, and Sippy Cups posted at The Attached Parent. Scary indeed, thanks for the heads up Tiffany.
Spiritual Nourishment
Tupelo Kenyon presents How to Live the Life of Your Dreams Through Intuition posted at Tupelo Kenyon, saying, “Intuition feels good. That should be enough of a clue it’s something that can be trusted. But, our culture has done a thorough job of instilling doubt about the wisdom of following our instincts. Instead, we are taught to think things through and be logical. These mental tools are important, but they were never intended to be used instead of intuition. They work better when used in conjunction with intuition. If we are open to it, we get nudges and insights to move us in the direction of our greatest joys, our most valuable contributions, and our most satisfying life. Those quiet whispers and gentle taps on the shoulder are examples of inner guidance in action – intuition. (Enjoy soothing instrumental music as you read plus songs with lyrics related to each article – all free.)” Thanks Tupelo. It’s all there. A very inspiring post.
Machione presents I Took Time For Myself… posted at The Lives and Times… of Anthony McCune. A short post, mostly very beautiful pictures. I hope you don’t mind I stole one.
David B. Bohl presents The Gratitude Project: Little Known Ways to Experience Gratitude posted at Slow Down Fast Today!, saying, “I think this is a very exciting time, and the science of gratitude is certainly a viable process for finding happiness, fulfillment, and peace of mind. But I often have to keep things much simpler than making an emotion into a science. So I continue to ask myself one question in order to maintain that simplicity: “What are we grateful for and when should we be grateful?””
Pat B. Doyle presents Feng Shui and Clutter posted at Barton Pond Feng Shui, saying, “Learn how clutter’s negative energy affects you and how to remove it from your life.”
Tina Su presents 9 Ways to Overcome Jealousy posted at Think Simple. Be Decisive.. This is a brilliant article. My favourite of the Carnival this month. I’ll use it again I think. Now I can follow Tina’s simple suggestions to use this experience for freedom. I asked Tina, however, what to do when I fear provoking Jealousy in others. This is one of my largest blockages to doing what I know I must - Being Huge! Hopefully she can help me with it. Great post and a great blog.
That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of Carnival of Nourishment using our carnival submission form. Past posts and future hosts can be found on our blog carnival index page.
